MG GT, a high-performance and fashionable mid-range vehicle from SAIC Motors, got a Chinese name--Mingjue Ruixing -- on May 7. It is the company’s second vehicle to be named in Chinese, following the MG GS, whose Chinese name is Mingjue Ruiteng.

The Chinese name inherits the spirit of the MG brand and expresses the GT’s fashionable look and ultra-high performance. As a fourth-generation MG GT vehicle, the vehicle fully expresses the passionate and challenging individuality and confident attitude of the younger generation. In addition, Ruixing sums up the most attractive highlights of the MG GT—the sharp and avant-garde British design, effective and environmentally-friendly dynamics and cutting-edge intelligent science. The MG GS uses SAIC’s NetBlue, a highly effective new-generation powertrain, with an SGE 1.4 TGI engine featuring a series of advanced technologies, including cylinder direct injection, turbocharging, dual variable-valve timing and engine stop-start. The engine’s maximum power reaches 150 horsepower, with 235 NM in maximum torque, putting it on a par with leading brands worldwide. It is paired with the brand new TST 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, with less than 0.2 seconds of shift time and a sensitivity that is comparable to an F1 vehicle. This optimal combination results in acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers in 9.5 seconds and 5.9 liters/100 km in fuel consumption, which can fully satisfy young consumers' needs for power, energy conservation and environmental protection.
